For its 50th release, Da ! Heard It Records invests in stone.
After a first try as a flyover of their machines (Fusée Pétard Volant - “Flying Firecracker Rocket” - released in 2019), the duo À Travers returns to earth and goes deeper. Far from the omnipresent pyrotechnical effects of their previous opus, Mathieu Rouchon and Maxime Palmer dig up the foundations of an industrial folklore of their invention. For close to an hour, rhythms crunched by machines give shape to a terrain conducive to the meticulous arrangement of primitive sonorous signals. Sometimes braced by a synthetic buzzing reminiscent of certain traditional western tunes, these elements are superimposed into strata, fashioning a thick mosaic of psychedelic landscapes.
In the image of its mineral sleeve -Nadège Moulineau, The Absolute Design & Grö) and of a choice of titles that echo various ancient legends, Tesselles seems to go back in time all the way to the origins. From this view, we foresee a good evolution.

Après un premier essai en forme de survol de leurs machines (Fusée Pétard Volant paru en 2019), le duo À Travers redescend sur terre et gagne en profondeur. Loin des effets pyrotechniques omniprésents de leur précédent opus, Mathieu Rouchon et Maxime Palmer creusent ici les fondations d’un folklore industriel de leur invention. Durant près d’une heure, rythmiques concassées par les machines forment un terrain propice à l’agencement méticuleux de signaux sonores primitifs. Parfois soutenus d’un bourdon synthétique rappelant certaines musiques traditionnelles occidentales, ces éléments se superposent par strates pour façonner une épaisse mosaïque de paysages psychédéliques.
À l’image de sa jaquette minérale (Nadège Moulineau, The Absolute Design & Grö) et d’un choix de titres en écho à diverses légendes antiques, Tesselles semble remonter le temps pour atteindre les origines. Vu d’ici, on devine une bonne évolution.
